About the Role
Marriott International is seeking a full-time Kitchen Technician in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, responding to guest repair requests, and troubleshooting a variety of hotel equipment and systems with minimal supervision. The position requires a professional with a minimum of 2 years of experience in hotel engineering or maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to guest repair requests and communicate effectively to resolve maintenance issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and conduct visual inspections.
- Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment, and maintain maintenance inventory by requisitioning parts and supplies.
- Execute complex repairs on physical property, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration, and pool heaters, ensuring compliance with company standards and local codes.
- Troubleshoot and repair various equipment types, including pumps, motors, plumbing fixtures, electrical devices (lamps, HVAC, internet devices), and replace switches/outlets.
- Utilize the Lockout/Tagout system for all maintenance work and perform advanced troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
- Train and mentor other engineers as required, and fulfill Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
- Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved programs and standards.
Technical Skills and Abilities
- Advanced ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics for plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Above-average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical ability.
- Proficiency in at least three of the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, or general building management.
- Solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials for repair and maintenance tasks.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems.
Qualifications and Certifications
- Required: Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification and adherence to applicable state and federal certification/licensing requirements.
- Preferred Education: High school diploma or *** equivalent with a vocational or technical background.
- Preferred Experience: Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration, parts inventory and requisition, and surface preparation/painting. A minimum of 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience is preferred.
- License: Valid Driver’s License is preferred.
Physical Demands and Professional Conduct
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance, and heavier items with assistance.
- Capability to move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders.
- Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Proficiency in using computers to enter and locate work-related information.
- Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance, uphold confidentiality, and protect company assets.

- Adhere to all company safety and security policies and procedures, including reporting maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
- Complete all required safety training and certifications, and properly store flammable materials.
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guest service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and express genuine appreciation.
- Adhere to quality expectations and standards, develop positive working relationships, support team goals, and communicate professionally with colleagues.
