Role Overview

The International Civil Aviation Organization is seeking an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Air Navigation Services Expert to join the team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves conducting comprehensive studies and analyses related to the integration of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) systems into existing air-traffic management (ATM) networks. Key areas of focus include evaluating air routes, separation levels, communication/navigation/surveillance (CNS) systems, and traffic-management procedures specifically for AAM aircraft. The role is also responsible for developing technical frameworks for AAM corridors and routes, alongside defining system requirements to ensure safe and coordinated operations within the airspace.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical analyses and studies to ensure the safe integration of AAM technologies into the national aviation system.
  • Build and enhance technical capabilities in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) within the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).
  • Develop relevant regulations and procedures, prepare technical recommendations, and secure necessary approvals.
  • Assess Air Traffic Management (ATM) needs and procedures tailored for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).
  • Develop air-route models specifically for VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft within urban and suburban airspace.
  • Analyze Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) system requirements for future AAM operations.
  • Participate in the development of the Low Level Airspace Concept and the initial air traffic framework.
  • Evaluate air-traffic congestion and propose effective solutions for integrating AAM flights into the existing airspace.
  • Contribute to the preparation of operational regulations for AAM aircraft.
  • Support testing activities related to AAM air corridors and traffic-management solutions.
  • Support and facilitate tests and flight trials for AAM systems.
  • Prepare reports in a timely manner and to the required quality standards.
  • Commit to all cybersecurity-related tasks and responsibilities.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by direct management that align with the nature and scope of the job.

The work performed in this position directly contributes to the safe and effective integration of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) into the national aviation system. This role is instrumental in supporting GACA’s strategic objectives and ensuring alignment with international aviation standards, thereby enhancing the future of air travel.

Reporting and Collaboration

The incumbent will operate under the direction of the General Management of Advanced Air Mobility – AAM, within the Aviation Safety and Environmental Sustainability sector. This role requires close coordination with various internal GACA departments, external regulatory bodies, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), operators, and international aviation organizations to achieve its objectives.

Experience Requirements

Candidates for this position should possess between 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience in air navigation services, air traffic management, or advanced air mobility.

Position Details

This is a full-time position located in Riyadh, Riyadh. The salary for this role is set at P5 STEP 1.
