About the Air Safety Specialist Role

BAE SYSTEMS is seeking an experienced Air Safety Specialist to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires a professional with a strong background in aviation safety to support the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) in maintaining and enhancing flight safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Air Safety Specialist will be responsible for a range of critical duties aimed at ensuring and improving air safety within the RSAF. These include:

  • Conducting flight safety surveys and audits of Bases on behalf of the RSAF Director of Safety.
  • Participating in and coordinating safety seminars with foreign Air Forces.
  • Managing the recording of all aircraft accidents and incidents in the RSAF 'Safety Information System' computer.
  • Analyzing accident and incident data to identify root causes, establish remedial actions, and provide recommendations to increase airworthiness and safety margins.
  • Preparing the annual Aircraft Accident and Occurrences Summary.
  • Preparing 'Safety Presentations' for the RSAF Director of Safety.
  • Advising the RSAF Director of Safety on the establishment and evaluation of flight safety programs.
  • Advising the RSAF Director of Safety in the selection of training courses for RSAF flight safety officers.
  • Advising and supporting the RSAF Director of Safety in the procurement of flight safety, accident prevention, and accident investigation materials.
  • Supporting the RSAF Director of Safety in planning, organizing, and directing current and future Flight Safety programs designed to minimize aircraft accidents and incidents.
  • Investigating Aircraft Accidents & Incidents when required and preparing reports.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience to be considered for this role:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Aero-Sciences.
  • Experience as a Flight Safety / Ground Safety Specialist.
  • Experience as an Aircraft Accident Investigator.
  • Jet Engine Investigators should have participated in Aircraft Accident Investigation Boards as a President/Member.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety-related jobs, including a senior supervisory appointment.
  • Must be an X-RSAF Pilot with 500 Hours or more.

Essential Knowledge and Understanding

A comprehensive understanding of aviation safety is crucial for this position. Key areas of knowledge include:

  • An understanding of RSAF procedures and processes from a working level (RSAF bases) to a strategic level (RSAF HQ).
  • Good awareness of RSAF programs, Suppliers, Government to Government Standard Agencies, International Standards Agencies, and academic/research establishments.
  • Extensive Air Sector company/industry knowledge (5+ years in a senior position).
  • Detailed experience of aviation safety, quality systems, airworthiness, airframe engineering, aircraft control systems, aircraft avionic systems, design engineering, manufacturing, project/programme management, systems engineering, test engineering, and aircraft systems integration.
  • A detailed knowledge of the Military / Civil Air Environment.
  • Detailed understanding of RSAF organizational structure and regulatory frameworks with respect to safety and airworthiness.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
