About Foodics

Foodics, established in 2014, is a restaurant management ecosystem and payment technology provider with headquarters in Riyadh and offices in five countries. The company serves customers and partners in over 35 countries globally. Foodics has processed over 6 billion orders and has secured three funding rounds, including a $170 million round, which was the largest SaaS funding round in the MENA region.

Role Overview

Foodics is seeking an Associate AI Quality Engineer for a full-time position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role involves building internal AI systems used by engineers daily, focusing on agents that generate and maintain tests, pipelines for failure triage, tools for code review and debugging, and evaluation infrastructure for AI features. This is a builder's role, requiring the development of production code and ownership of systems within CI, with success measured by the adoption of your work by engineers. The role requires 5-10 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop test automation across the stack, including backend API and contract testing, service-level and integration coverage, and robust data setup.
  • Implement frontend web E2E and component-level coverage using Playwright, visual and RTL regression, and fast test suites.
  • Ensure mobile native and cross-platform coverage with Appium or Maestro, manage device-farm strategy, and test offline, sync, and payment-peripheral behaviors.
  • Manage shared fixtures, environment and test-data, parallelization, and CI pipelines.
  • Apply an AI layer for test generation from specifications, code, and production traffic, including maintenance solutions.
  • Develop failure triage systems to classify build failures (real bug, flake, environment, test rot) before human intervention.
  • Create self-healing locators and suite health tooling for flake detection, quarantine, and coverage-gap analysis.
  • Build evaluation infrastructure for AI features, including datasets, scoring, and regression detection for prompt or model changes.
  • Focus on evaluation for the market, including Arabic and English behavior, RTL interfaces, and region-specific POS, tax, and payment rules.
  • Develop agentic AI for pipeline tasks such as reading diffs, running relevant suites, reproducing failures, proposing fixes, and opening PRs.
  • Design agents to manage quality workflows end-to-end, including exploratory testing, coverage-gap hunting, and release-risk assessment, with escalation to humans when necessary.
  • Orchestrate systems to handle multi-step planning, tool use, retries, state and memory management, sandboxed execution, and multi-agent handoffs.
  • Integrate AI systems with existing stack components such as CI, Jira, observability, and MCP-style tool interfaces.

Technical Qualifications

  • Proficiency in test automation, including framework design, layering, test pyramid concepts, flake economics, parallel execution, mobile and cross-browser testing, and CI/CD gating. Experience with Playwright, Appium, and Maestro is required.
  • Knowledge of agentic AI, including orchestration, tool use, multi-step planning, memory and state management, sandboxed execution, multi-agent patterns, and MCP standards.
  • Experience with context engineering, including retrieval strategy, chunking, reranking, caching, and managing long-context behavior.
  • Skills in evaluation, covering offline and online evaluations, LLM-as-judge methodologies, human-in-the-loop review, statistical significance, and regression gates in CI.
  • Understanding of reliability, including structured output, guardrails, fallback and retry design, and handling non-determinism in critical systems.
  • Operational knowledge of tracing and observability for LLM systems, prompt and version management, latency and cost budgeting, model routing, and when fine-tuning or distillation is preferable.
  • Experience with performance and load testing.

Work Environment and Benefits
