About Dallah Hospital and the Role

Dallah Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is seeking a dedicated Biomedical Specialist. This full-time role is critical for ensuring the safety of patients and staff, as well as the reliable and accurate function of all biomedical equipment and appliances throughout the hospital. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to maintaining high standards of medical technology performance.

Equipment Maintenance and Management

The Biomedical Specialist is primarily responsible for the hands-on management and upkeep of all hospital biomedical assets. Key duties include:

  • Ensuring the timely repair of all biomedical equipment and appliances in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Implementing the Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) scheme for biomedical equipment, performing all tasks at prescribed intervals.
  • Maintaining appropriate stock levels of spare parts for all biomedical equipment through regular review and ordering via the stores/purchasing department.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the medical gas systems, including procuring supplies to ensure uninterrupted service to all clinical areas.

Operational Support and Strategic Input

This role also involves contributing to strategic planning and operational oversight to enhance the hospital's biomedical capabilities:

  • Participating in the assessment of needs, preparation of plans, and cost estimates for purchasing new or upgrading existing biomedical equipment and appliances.
  • Recommending new policies and procedures specific to the Biomedical Section.
  • Supervising the performance of any external contracts for biomedical equipment, monitoring and controlling performance, and approving work done.
  • Collaborating with the biomedical supervisor in the preparation of the annual budget for engineering services.

Compliance, Safety, and Performance Monitoring

A critical aspect of the role involves upholding stringent standards for compliance, safety, and continuous improvement:

  • Actively implementing departmental policies and procedures, along with local and international accreditation standards or requirements related to the department.
  • Facilitating requirements of the Medical Equipment Management Program relevant to organization-wide functions and processes.
  • Actively participating in indicator development and data collection for the department to measure the performance of functions, processes, and outcomes. Conducting analysis and interpretation of collected data/information as required.
  • Participating in hospital Safety Management & Risk Management Programs, actively reporting incidents in the system, and participating in incident review and root cause analysis when needed.
  • Performing other applicable tasks assigned within the level of competence as required by the department Manager.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience in the maintenance and management of biomedical equipment, preferably within a hospital or clinical setting. A solid understanding of medical device functionality, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance is essential for this role.
