Cardiovascular Technician

About the Role

National Medical Care is seeking a Cardiovascular Technician to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of experience and involves performing a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures, ensuring patient safety and accurate data collection.

Key Responsibilities

• Register patients, confirm identification, review consultation requests, and verify medical history.
• Prepare patients for procedures by explaining equipment and testing, assisting with positioning, and connecting monitoring systems (ECG leads, BP cuff, saturation probe).
• Monitor patient comfort and safety during tests, recording blood pressure and heart rate, and notifying the physician of any anomalies.
• Perform electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, and stress tests using electronic equipment, recording devices, and analyzing images.
• Execute various measurement modalities including IFR, IVUS, and OCT.
• Ensure compliance with cath lab room X-ray safety protocols, including the use of lead aprons and shields.
• Respond rapidly to emergency situations within the cath lab by performing CPR, using a defibrillator, and connecting IABP machines.
• Provide necessary calculations during procedures, such as valve areas, cardiac output, LV end-diastolic pressure, and pressure gradients across valves.
• Assist physicians by operating multi-channel physiologic monitors, measuring and recording cardiovascular and pulmonary functions during cardiac catheterizations, alerting physicians to abnormal instrument readings, and providing test results.
• Perform transducer calibration and chest leveling for accurate pressure readings.
• Support physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular ailments by assisting with catheter placement.
• Maintain laboratory records, including examinations performed and findings, and participate in research projects.
• Monitor and record used medications and materials during procedures.
• Adhere to asepsis standards, legal regulations, Infection Prevention, and International Patient Safety Goals and Practices to maintain a safe work environment.
• Evaluate diagnostic studies for quality and diagnoses to ensure accurate results.
• Assist physicians with typing cath reports, cardio-tree documentation, and labeling used items.
• Ensure proper operation of cardiovascular systems and equipment, troubleshoot problems, calibrate equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and report repair requirements.
• Contribute positively to quality care delivery and departmental operations through professional conduct.
• Monitor and reflect on personal performance, identify professional development needs, and update job knowledge through educational opportunities.
• Complete the mandatory CMJ-Infection Control License.
• Adhere to professional standards and hospital policies to serve and protect the hospital community.
• Educate and counsel individuals, families, and co-workers regarding patient situations and treatment methods.
• Document and maintain patient data records, including completing patient records, forms, reports, logs, and archiving/retrieving procedure data.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Proficiency in performing electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, and stress tests.
• Experience with different measurement modalities such as IFR, IVUS, and OCT.
• Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations, including CPR and operating defibrillators and IABP machines.
• Strong understanding of X-ray safety protocols in a cath lab environment.
• Completion of the mandatory CMJ-Infection Control License.
