About the Role

A Confidential Government entity in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is seeking a Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to oversee its investment portfolio and drive financial growth. This full-time executive position requires a strategic leader with extensive experience in asset management and a deep understanding of financial markets.

Role Overview

The Chief Investment Officer is a C-suite executive responsible for the strategic direction and management of the organization's investment portfolio. This role involves formulating and implementing investment policies and strategies to achieve financial goals, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and identifying opportunities for sustainable growth. The CIO will lead a team of investment professionals and collaborate with executive leadership to optimize asset allocation and manage risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the organization's investment strategy and policies to maximize returns while balancing risk and aligning with strategic goals.
  • Lead the investment team in analyzing investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, and presenting findings to the executive team and board of directors.
  • Monitor and evaluate portfolio performance, making strategic adjustments based on market conditions and changes in the investment landscape.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external advisors, investment managers, and institutional clients.
  • Assess and manage investment risks proactively, implementing rigorous risk management practices.
  • Communicate investment performance, strategy changes, and market intelligence to the board, stakeholders, and executive team.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations leaders to align investment activities with overall financial strategy and ensure adequate resource allocation.
  • Advocate for the incorporation of sustainable and responsible investing practices into the investment portfolio.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive investment reports to the board of directors.
  • Stay informed of global economic trends, financial markets, and regulatory changes to inform strategic decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in investment management.
  • At least 10 years in a leadership role within a financial services or asset management organization.
  • Proven expertise in developing and executing multifaceted investment strategies, including equities, fixed income, alternatives, and real estate.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing investment team.
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of utilizing quantitative methods and financial modeling.
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory, compliance, and risk management frameworks relevant to investments.
  • Exceptional negotiating and relationship management skills.
  • Proven experience in communicating complex investment strategies to non-financial stakeholders and board members.
  • Ability to utilize technology and financial software systems effectively.
  • Strategic thinking and a proactive approach to identifying market trends and opportunities.
  • Strong ethical standards and decision-making capabilities.
