About the Role

Alat is seeking a Director, Investment Risk to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires over 10 years of experience and focuses on enhancing Alat's investment risk management framework. The role is integral to ensuring robust governance, independent oversight, and effective portfolio risk management throughout the investment lifecycle, aligning with Alat's strategic objectives and risk appetite.

Role Purpose and Contribution

The Director, Investment Risk will provide independent risk insights and constructive challenge to Executive Management. This support is crucial for strategic decision-making, safeguarding Alat’s investment portfolio, and enabling disciplined growth and value creation across key industrial sectors. The position plays a vital role in shaping Alat's investment strategy and risk governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of investment risk strategy, governance frameworks, and risk oversight processes.
• Provide independent risk advisory on investment opportunities, portfolio exposures, and strategic transactions.
• Assess transaction-level and portfolio-level risks, including the identification of mitigation actions and escalation requirements.
• Deliver clear, actionable risk insights and reporting to senior leadership.
• Support investment committees and decision-making forums with independent risk perspectives.
• Monitor emerging risks across the portfolio and recommend practical improvements.
• Strengthen risk culture, controls, and governance across the investment lifecycle.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
• A Master’s degree, relevant professional certification, or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 12 years of experience in investment risk, portfolio risk, investment management, or related investment environments.
• Experience within sovereign wealth funds, private equity, investment holding companies, or institutional investment environments is required.
• A strong understanding of investment governance, portfolio risk, transaction risk, and risk reporting.
• Proven experience engaging senior stakeholders and providing independent challenge.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and executive reporting skills.
• The ability to operate with independence, sound judgment, and a strategic perspective.
