About the Cloud Security Architect Role

ByteDance is seeking a Cloud Security Architect to join its Cybersecurity team in Riyadh. This full-time position focuses on securing the cloud infrastructure for Volcano Engine & BytePlus, a cloud service provider owned by ByteDance, encompassing IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings. The role involves designing and implementing robust security solutions to protect sensitive data and ensure system resilience.

Role Responsibilities

The Cloud Security Architect will be responsible for the following:

• Designing, implementing, and overseeing cloud security architecture, covering physical hardware, operating systems, cloud-native applications, data security and privacy, insider threats, and generative AI.
• Developing and enforcing cloud security policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with industry regulations and best practices.
• Conducting security risk assessments, security training, and vulnerability assessments to proactively identify and address security gaps.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate security controls into cloud products and underlying infrastructure.
• Staying informed about emerging cloud security trends, technologies, and threats, and providing guidance on security strategies and solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should possess the following minimum qualifications:

• Familiarity with common risk principles, attack and defense strategies, and the ability to systematically lead security architecture and risk governance.
• Knowledge of cloud-native and infrastructure technologies including network access, LLM, big data, storage, cloud computing, microservices, and zero trust.
• Familiarity with container security technologies (*, Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless security best practices.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Golang, Python, Java, or NodeJS, with the capability for code auditing/reviews and development.
• Understanding of security frameworks and standards (*, CIS Benchmarks, GDPR, HIPAA).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, professional working ethics, keen risk awareness, and a results-oriented approach focused on long-term growth.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are considered advantageous:

• Experience in discovering significant vulnerabilities or winning large-scale security competitions.
• Experience leading or participating in large-scale governance, architecture, and design projects.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms (*, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and associated security best practices.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, OSCP, or GIAC Certifications.
