About the Role

Mace is seeking a Construction Director to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position is integral to the successful delivery of a major mixed-use development program in Saudi Arabia, encompassing sports facilities, entertainment, arts, and associated infrastructure. The role requires a senior, site-based construction and delivery lead to support the client project management team in recovering and successfully completing the project.

Role Context and Objectives

The Construction Director will focus on monitoring, assessing, coordinating, and supporting the Contractor's construction activities. Key objectives include ensuring subcontractor coordination, optimizing sequencing and productivity, and overseeing site execution to maintain the approved recovery program and achieve critical project milestones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and coordinate senior construction managers assigned to the project.
  • Allocate responsibilities across project zones, assets, systems, and work fronts for effective site coverage and monitoring.
  • Proactively identify and escalate critical delivery risks, subcontractor performance issues, and program concerns.
  • Conduct regular coordination and review meetings with senior construction managers to ensure alignment on priorities and objectives.
  • Review progress against the approved program, recovery plans, and key milestones.
  • Support the contractor and stakeholders in identifying and implementing practical mitigation and recovery measures.
  • Undertake regular site walks and field assessments to validate progress and site conditions.
  • Identify underperforming subcontractors, trade clashes, and interface issues impacting program delivery.
  • Facilitate collaborative resolution of coordination and execution issues among all project parties.
  • Support the recovery director in monitoring the implementation of the approved recovery strategy and mitigation plans.
  • Review look-ahead programs, recovery schedules, and critical path activities.
  • Provide factual reporting and recommendations to the client project management team and recovery director.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 15+ years of experience in large-scale construction and site delivery.
  • Degree qualification in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience on complex or distressed projects requiring recovery and mitigation initiatives.
  • Strong experience managing multidisciplinary construction teams and subcontractor coordination on large-scale projects.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Must meet necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Relevant work experience with a project management consultancy business on high-valued projects/programs is required for immigration and client approval.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, site-based role located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The position involves working within a client project management team on one of the largest programs in the region.
