About the Role

SYSTRA Arabia is seeking a Design Manager Landscape to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position supports a major urban regeneration program, focusing on landscape design leadership across significant development projects.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will provide strong leadership in landscape design for large-scale mixed-use, public realm, and urban development initiatives. This role involves guiding the landscape design scope from concept through detailed design and delivery support within the urban regeneration program.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the landscape design scope across the urban regeneration program from concept through detailed design and delivery support.
• Provide technical and design leadership to landscape consultants and multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment with program objectives, design vision, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
• Review and coordinate landscape design submissions, reports, presentations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Ensure landscape design integrates effectively with urban planning, architecture, infrastructure, utilities, transport, public realm, and environmental requirements.
• Support the Client in design governance, design review processes, consultant coordination, and reporting.
• Drive design quality, functionality, sustainability, placemaking, and user experience across parks, streetscapes, open spaces, plazas, and other public realm elements.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including clients, consultants, authorities, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Monitor design progress, identify risks, gaps, and interface issues, and recommend corrective actions where required.
• Ensure compliance with the project brief, local authority requirements, applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
• Support value engineering, design optimization, and constructability reviews related to landscape and public realm works.
• Participate in design workshops, technical meetings, and stakeholder review sessions.
• Provide strategic input on landscape vision, urban identity, and enhancement of the public realm.
• Prepare design updates, review comments, progress reports, and presentation materials for senior stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in landscape design and design leadership for major urban development, regeneration, or public realm projects.
• Proven experience in a Design Lead, Senior Landscape Architect, Design Manager, or similar senior role within PMO, client, developer, or consultancy environments.
• Strong background in leading landscape design across large-scale urban regeneration, mixed-use, city development, or public realm projects.
• Excellent understanding of design management processes, consultant coordination, design review, and multidisciplinary integration.

Skills and Attributes

• Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple consultants, deadlines, and complex design interfaces within a program environment.
• Knowledge of sustainability, placemaking, and contemporary landscape/public realm design principles is highly desirable.

Regional Experience

Experience working on projects in the GCC and/or Saudi Arabia is preferred. Familiarity with local regulations, authority requirements, and regional design expectations is an advantage for this role in Riyadh.
