About the Director of Human Resources Role

W Hotels in Riyadh is seeking a Director of Human Resources. This full-time position reports directly to the General Manager, with a functional reporting line to the Senior Director, Human Resources. The role is integral to the Human Resources organization, providing high-standard, integrated HR knowledge and professional expertise to the designated hotel.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Human Resources will oversee critical HR functions including talent acquisition, team planning, performance management, and staff training. This involves utilizing effective recruitment techniques and guiding team members to achieve business objectives. The role requires operating with a considerable degree of independence to establish processes that support broader business goals. Developing HR business plans aligned with hotel and brand strategies to drive business success is also a core responsibility.

Key activities include:

  • Executing and advancing HR-related activities and talent management initiatives.
  • Translating business priorities into actionable hotel HR strategies and plans.
  • Coordinating HR budget reviews and leading onboarding team activities.
  • Supervising hotel managers and staff in the effective use of HR systems.
  • Leading onboarding management and staff team planning.
  • Attending executive committee meetings and reporting on HR achievements.
  • Analyzing vacancy gaps and optimizing staff composition.
  • Guiding selection and interview processes for staff and expert committees.
  • Developing and implementing HR policies related to recruitment.
  • Leading the overall compensation strategy planning for staff.
  • Ensuring HR staff receive appropriate training and acting as a resource for staff relations issues.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience requirements:

  • A two-year degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field from a recognized university, combined with 4 years of experience in Human Resources, Operations Management, or related field leadership.
  • A four-year degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field, combined with 2 years of experience in Human Resources, Operations Management, or related field leadership.

Strategic HR Management

This role is responsible for managing the HR strategy and its execution within the hotel. This includes establishing talent management teams, supporting diversification strategies, and implementing HR initiatives. The Director will evaluate HR budget review processes and assist in tracking performance outcomes and cost control measures. They will also be responsible for key change management initiatives impacting staff and ensuring the effective use of HR resources.

Staff Composition and Compensation

The position involves managing the staff composition and recruitment process, including analyzing vacancy gaps and optimizing workflow. Decisions regarding talent executives and replenishment lines will be made, in collaboration with recruitment managers on salary and benefits. The role also requires understanding compensation environments, leading compensation strategy planning, and supporting the communication of compensation systems. Internal equity analysis and the creation of compensation management packages, particularly for hotel priorities and bonus plans, are key duties.

Staff Training and Relations

Ensuring HR staff responsibilities are met and that HR personnel receive appropriate training is essential. The Director will serve as a resource for staff relations issues, continuously strengthening a positive staff relations philosophy. This includes ensuring management staff can effectively evaluate and assess employees during their evaluation periods.
