About the Role

Qiddiya Investment Company is seeking a Director - Design (Structural Steelworks) for the MBS Stadium project in Riyadh Province, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead the structural steelwork design and construction for a technically complex and ambitious stadium development.

Role Context and Purpose

Reporting to the Structural Design Lead, the successful candidate will provide expert guidance to the Management Contractor and specialist steel contractor. The role involves overseeing all aspects of the design and construction of the structural steelwork for a landmark stadium situated 200 meters above the Tuwaiq cliffs. The project's unique challenges include its cliff-edge location, three-sided bowl configuration, and integration of world-record moving structures, demanding expertise in scale, logistics, fabrication engineering, and construction methodology.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and design oversight to the Management Contractor and specialist steel contractor for all structural steelwork activities.
• Lead the identification, assessment, and resolution of complex structural steelwork design and construction challenges.
• Review and comment on steelwork design submissions, fabrication drawings, and construction methodology statements.
• Liaise with the Management Contractor and steel subcontractor to monitor design development and resolve technical issues.
• Coordinate with wider design, engineering, and project management teams to ensure steelwork integration.
• Support the review of RFIs, technical queries, and design change requests related to structural steelwork.
• Provide regular technical reporting to the Structural Design Lead on progress, issues, and risks.
• Contribute to a collaborative, solutions-focused team culture.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional accreditation is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in structural steelwork, covering design, fabrication, and construction.
• Experience on major stadia, arenas, or landmark infrastructure projects is ideally required.

Required Skills and Attributes

• Deep technical knowledge of structural steelwork design principles, fabrication processes, and construction sequencing.
• Proven experience working with Management Contractors and specialist steelwork subcontractors on complex, fast-paced projects.
• Strong problem-solving ability with a track record of resolving engineering challenges on significant projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A positive, proactive attitude and resilience in a high-pressure environment.
