About the Role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an Engineer - Electrical to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing, inspecting, and ensuring the quality execution of all electrical works related to road and highway infrastructure projects. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Collaboration with contractors and project teams is essential for the successful delivery of electrical components for infrastructure, including street lighting, traffic management systems, and utility coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections and monitor ongoing electrical works, including street lighting systems (LED, solar, high mast), traffic signals and road safety systems, cabling works (underground/overhead), and electrical panels, feeder pillars, and junction boxes.
• Verify that all electrical work execution aligns with approved project drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and method statements.
• Ensure that all materials used and workmanship provided meet specified quality standards, adhering to relevant codes such as IRC, IS, IEC, or other applicable standards.
• Check installation procedures and identify any non-conformities or deviations from project requirements.
• Report identified defects promptly and ensure contractors implement timely corrective actions.
• Witness and verify electrical testing activities, including insulation resistance tests, continuity tests, earthing and grounding tests, and functional testing of lighting and signal systems.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all inspection and test results.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in electrical inspection is required.
• Prior experience in roads and highways or infrastructure supervision projects is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in site inspection, testing, and quality control is essential.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in inspecting street lighting systems (LED, solar, high mast).
• Expertise in evaluating traffic signals and road safety systems.
• Knowledge of cabling works, both underground and overhead.
• Familiarity with electrical panels, feeder pillars, and junction boxes.
• Strong skills in electrical inspection and quality control processes.
• Competence in performing and verifying electrical testing and verification procedures.
