About the Facilities Manager Role

Amazon Saudi Arabia (ex-Souq) is seeking a Facilities Manager for its Maintenance & Engineering operations across the MENA RME region. This full-time position, based in Jeddah and Riyadh, is critical for ensuring the seamless operation of our facilities, allowing the Operations team to concentrate on delivering an exceptional customer experience. The role requires 5-10 years of experience in facilities management and maintenance.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Facilities Manager will oversee all facility maintenance tasks, managing both direct reports and third-party contractors. A primary focus will be on team leadership, development, and coaching to ensure a strong safety culture. This includes training the team to enhance their expertise and identifying root causes of issues to implement effective solutions. The role also involves deputizing for the facility manager when they are unavailable and ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations, maintaining comprehensive activity records.

Key Operational Duties

  • Implementing Amazon's standards for facilities maintenance, with a strong emphasis on preventive maintenance to guarantee high equipment availability for internal customers.
  • Managing and supporting the team's training programs.
  • Overseeing local projects and assisting with construction projects as assigned.
  • Supporting multi-site production by working in a safe, customer-focused manner, demonstrating high self-motivation.
  • Developing and designing solutions for complex problems, managing external contractors, and being on call for emergencies.
  • Handling multiple projects and daily activities, meeting deadlines, and developing plans to achieve departmental and distribution goals.
  • Ensuring all safety programs and procedures are followed.
  • Developing and maintaining preventative maintenance programs and fostering strong working relationships with operations teams.
  • Assisting in the development, setting, and tracking of budgets.
  • Mentoring facilities associates by providing motivation and direction to help them achieve their goals.
  • Promoting and conducting good housekeeping practices.
  • Developing training plans for facilities and service technicians.
  • Developing Preventive Maintenance Programs.
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Providing constructive feedback to enhance individual performance.

Technical Maintenance Capabilities

The role requires the ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot various electrical and control systems. This includes:

  • Power distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting systems, transformers, and wiring methods and materials.
  • Photo eye components, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, servo drives, and frequency inverters.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial maintenance.
  • At least 2 years of direct leadership or supervisory experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • A Bachelor's degree, or a minimum of 2 years of experience within Amazon.
  • Proficiency with computers, including MS Excel, Word, and Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in team management, budget responsibilities, supplier management, problem-solving, and client/customer relations.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance procedures, industrial electrical systems, industrial controls, and industrial electronics & robotics.
  • Experience working with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) integrators.
  • Experience maintaining material handling equipment and integrated systems.
  • Experience in project management.
