About the Falcon Imprint Specialist Role

NOFA COMPANY is seeking a dedicated Falcon Imprint Specialist to join its Falcon Breeding & Conservation team in Riyadh. This full-time position focuses on the artificial rearing, behavioral imprinting, welfare, and early development of captive-bred falcon chicks. The specialist will ensure chicks receive optimal care to maximize their future breeding or hunting performance, contributing to breeding, conservation, and falconry programs.

Core Responsibilities

The Falcon Imprint Specialist will be responsible for a range of critical tasks:

  • Performing artificial hand-rearing of falcon chicks from hatching until transfer.
  • Implementing approved imprinting protocols aligned with breeding objectives, ensuring proper human imprinting while preventing undesirable behavioral abnormalities.
  • Monitoring chick development at each growth stage and identifying any behavioral deviations.
  • Preparing chicks for future breeding, falconry, or conservation release programs.
  • Feeding chicks according to age-specific protocols under strict hygiene standards, monitoring food intake, hydration, and feeding response.
  • Cleaning brooders and imprint rooms daily.
  • Recording daily body weight, crop filling, feather and bone development, and behavioral milestones, comparing growth against established production standards.
  • Conducting controlled human exposure, perch training, target training, and confidence-building exercises.
  • Monitoring fear responses, aggression, vocalization, and activity levels.
  • Observing chicks multiple times daily for signs of illness or distress and reporting abnormalities immediately to the veterinary department.
  • Assisting veterinary staff with medication administration, vitamin/probiotic supplementation, and sample collection.

Environment, Biosecurity, and Record Keeping

Maintaining optimal environmental conditions and strict biosecurity measures are essential:

  • Maintaining appropriate temperature, humidity, and lighting, ensuring a stress-free and hygienic environment.
  • Strictly adhering to biosecurity protocols, including the use of PPE, footbaths, disinfection, and isolation procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate records using the electronic breeding management system, including hatch data, pedigree, ring/microchip numbers, feed, medication, and mortality.
  • Maintaining brooders, feeding equipment, perches, and imprint rooms, and reporting any maintenance needs promptly.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology, Animal Science, Wildlife Management, Zoology, Avian Science, Falconry, Wildlife Conservation, or a related discipline.
  • 2–5 years of essential experience working with birds of prey.
  • Experience in falcon breeding centers, falcon hospitals, wildlife breeding facilities, raptor rehabilitation centers, or conservation breeding programs is preferred.

Collaboration and Work Environment

This role involves close collaboration with various internal teams to ensure the highest standards of chick survival and welfare. The position is based in Riyadh and operates on a full-time basis. You will work closely with veterinarians, breeding technicians, nutrition staff, biosecurity personnel, and production managers.
