About the Role

Buhler Group is seeking a Field Service Engineer – Automation to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position requiring 5-10 years of relevant experience. The role focuses on providing comprehensive automation support to customers, ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of Bühler machines and automation systems.

Role Purpose and Contribution

The Field Service Engineer – Automation is responsible for delivering essential automation services, including troubleshooting, commissioning, maintenance, and optimization. This involves providing both remote and on-site technical support to customers, ensuring system reliability, and actively identifying opportunities for service enhancements, upgrades, and modernization initiatives for Bühler equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting for PLCs, process control systems, motor starters, industrial networks, instrumentation, and electrical control systems.
• Diagnose automation faults through analysis of PLC software, alarms, system logs, electrical signals, and process conditions.
• Commission, maintain, modify, and optimize Bühler machines and automation systems.
• Perform software modifications, backups, upgrades, component replacements, and system restoration.
• Support automation retrofits, migrations, preventive maintenance, and root-cause analysis activities.
• Guide customer operators and maintenance teams through troubleshooting processes and system recovery procedures.
• Collaborate with the Sales team to conduct customer-site audits, assess system conditions, and identify service, upgrade, and modernization opportunities.
• Prepare detailed service reports and maintain accurate technical documentation and software backups.
• Coordinate effectively with customers, internal service teams, engineering departments, and product specialists.
• Participate in on-call support rotations and travel to customer sites as required to fulfill service obligations.

Experience Requirements

Candidates for this position should possess 5 to 10 years of experience in a field service or automation engineering role, demonstrating a strong background in the duties outlined above. The role requires practical experience with industrial automation systems and a proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.

Collaboration and Travel

This role involves significant interaction with various stakeholders, including customers, sales teams, and technical departments. The ability to coordinate and communicate effectively across these groups is essential. Regular travel to customer sites within Saudi Arabia is a core component of this position, alongside participation in an on-call support schedule.
