About the Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Fire Chief / Safety Advisor to support the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF). This full-time position is based in Riyadh and involves ensuring the establishment, management, and sustainment of RSAF requirements in Safety & Fire Protection.

Role Context and Responsibilities

The Fire Chief / Safety Advisor reports to the RSAF-HQ Director of Safety / Fire Protection. This role is critical for overseeing all aspects of safety and fire protection within the RSAF, including management, training, logistics, maintenance, engineering, facilities, and resource activities. The position requires close coordination with various RSAF departments and commanders to provide recommendations and ensure appropriate remedial actions are taken.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating with Safety Wing & Fire Squadron Commanders on airworthiness fire and safety matters.
  • Directing, planning, and coordinating fire operations, training, maintenance, engineering, logistics, and contractual issues.
  • Providing impartial advice within maintenance and engineering to support the RSAF's strategic mission.
  • Serving as the primary focal point for RSAF Fire Protection and Safety Programs.
  • Overseeing and directing the management and delivery of major programs to meet RSAF requirements.
  • Ensuring program definitions align with RSAF Policies and Procedures, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Codes and Standards, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA) Curriculums.
  • Acting as a principal point of contact for RSAF-HQ, MODSAP, USMTM, and private companies regarding programs and proposals.
  • Reporting relevant information to the RSAF-HQ Director of Safety/Fire Protection.
  • Developing and managing key relationships with RSAF Base Safety Wings, Fire Squadrons, the Fire Training Centre, and HQ Directorates.
  • Establishing, developing, and reviewing organizational and management structures for effective fire protection delivery.
  • Coordinating the review of technical submissions and Statements of Work for Fire Protection and Safety Projects.
  • Analyzing program effectiveness and providing policy recommendations.
  • Ensuring policies are implemented, controlled, and maintained to approved standards.
  • Thinking strategically and communicating vision effectively.
  • Leading a team towards goals and objectives.
  • Providing specialist advice to support RSAF strategic decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess:

  • Thorough knowledge of aviation and structural fire protection management activities.
  • Full understanding of fire protection maintainability concepts using International References.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fire service maintenance and engineering practices.
  • Experience managing numerous multi-disciplined and multi-national teams in complex aviation fire protection activities, employing a systematic problem-solving approach.
