About the Role

Team Saudi is seeking a Head Coach Epee to lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of all sports-related tasks for the Épée fencing discipline. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires 5-10 years of relevant experience. The role focuses on developing a long-term strategy for the next generation of Saudi elite Épée fencers of both genders, aligning with the Kingdom's high-performance sports strategy towards Brisbane 2032 and the Asian Games in Riyadh 2034.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee annual and multi-year performance plans for Saudi elite and emerging-elite Épée fencers, with a focus on pathways towards Brisbane 2032 and Riyadh 2034 for U14 and U17 age groups.
  • Lead the technical and tactical development of national Saudi athletes in Épée across U14, U17, and elite levels.
  • Direct and supervise Assistant Coaches in Épée fencing and coordinate Specialist Coaches assigned to high-performance athletes.
  • Lead preparation for major international events, including World Cups, World Championships, Asian Championships, Asian Games, and Olympic qualification events.
  • Plan and supervise national team training camps for both genders at U14, U17, and elite levels.
  • Establish a unified coaching philosophy, training methodology, and technical standards for the Team Saudi Épée fencing program.
  • Monitor international trends and provide technical reports following competitions and camps.

Athlete Development and Support

  • Build successful long-term athlete development (LTAD) with emerging athletes (Under 14 & Under 17 age groups) and ensure their transition into the international elite level.
  • Oversee the preparation and performance of national team athletes in Épée fencing.
  • Develop and coordinate individual performance plans for elite and emerging athletes.
  • Supervise athlete selection recommendations in accordance with federation policies and performance criteria.
  • Monitor athlete progress through regular performance reviews and competition analysis.
  • Ensure specific development programs are in place for female athletes.
  • Identify and scout emerging talent across Saudi Arabia, including prospective camps for U14 age groups of both genders.

Collaboration and Compliance

  • Work closely with the SOTC High-Performance Director Fencing, SOTC leadership, and service experts (S&C coaches, sports medicine, nutrition, sports psychology, athlete wellbeing) to ensure program consistency.
  • Actively participate in SOTC learning and development programs and development meetings called by SOTC leadership.
  • Maintain a continuous learning approach to the specific cultural requirements when working with Team Saudi athletes.
  • Follow SOPC safety guidelines, coaching standards, and ethical practices at all times.
  • Ensure training and competition areas are safe, organized, and suitable for participant use.
  • Support adherence to all SOPC policies and procedures during training activities and competitions.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for the Head Coach Epee position should possess 5-10 years of experience in a relevant coaching or high-performance sports role. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to develop and implement long-term athlete development strategies, lead technical and tactical training for elite and emerging athletes, and manage coaching teams within a national sports program. Strong leadership, strategic planning, and collaborative skills are essential for success in this role.
