Interpretation Lead

About the Role

Ilmi is seeking an Interpretation Lead to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is responsible for developing and refining high-quality interpretive scripts for exhibits, programs, and digital learning platforms in both Arabic and English. The Interpretation Lead ensures all script-based content is scientifically accurate, engaging, and accessible, maintaining consistency and cultural appropriateness for diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the editing of all exhibit scripts, including labels, display text, and narrative scripts, ensuring linguistic accuracy, engagement, and scientific soundness in Arabic and English.
• Ensure consistency in tone, voice, and style across both languages, adhering to editorial guidelines and interpretive strategy.
• Collaborate with curators and subject matter experts to verify scientific accuracy and clear communication of complex concepts.
• Manage the proofreading and quality control of bilingual content, ensuring linguistic precision and cultural relevance.
• Lead the review of translated content, working with translation teams to preserve meaning, tone, and intent.
• Work with the Exhibits Content Development Lead to integrate scripts seamlessly with exhibit narratives, design, and visitor experience.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (curators, designers, educators, digital teams) to align script content with visual and interactive components.
• Adapt scripts for various mediums, including physical exhibits, digital interactives, mobile apps, and multimedia presentations.
• Develop and maintain style guides and editorial standards for bilingual scripts, ensuring consistency in terminology, tone, and format.
• Regularly review and assess script content to ensure high linguistic and scientific standards, providing feedback and revisions as needed.
• Develop procedures and guidelines for consistent language quality and maintain glossaries for Arabic and English content.
• Craft content to engage diverse audiences, considering age, language proficiency, cultural background, and learning preferences.
• Ensure content is accessible and easily understandable for all visitors, particularly Arabic-speaking audiences.
• Collect and analyze visitor feedback on bilingual scripts to assess clarity, engagement, and educational impact.
• Refine and improve scripts based on visitor feedback to enhance the visitor experience.
• Coordinate and manage timelines for script development, ensuring completion within deadlines and budgets.
• Assist in managing budgets related to content creation and editing processes.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated ability to create and refine high-quality interpretive scripts.
• Proficiency in both Arabic and English, with strong editing and linguistic quality assurance skills.
• Experience ensuring scientific accuracy and cultural appropriateness in content.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Interpretation Lead reports to the Interpretation Head and collaborates closely with the Exhibits Content Development Lead and various cross-functional teams.
