The firm is recognized for its expertise in sustainable design, construction supervision, and project management, known for its comprehensive and visionary approaches to high-impact developments.
Project Overview
This role supports a prestigious heritage project located in Riyadh, which is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative. The development aims for Gold LEED certification and encompasses mixed-use buildings, academies, a traditional Najdi-style local mosque, a digital art museum, and a unique mud-brick cinema with underground parking. The project integrates state-of-the-art facilities with traditional design elements, focusing on cultural authenticity and modern sustainability goals.
The Role of Lead Mechanical Engineer
The Lead Mechanical Engineer is a senior-level, full-time position responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of mechanical systems for the project. This role ensures that all systems meet client needs, budget constraints, and regulatory requirements. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will lead a team of mechanical professionals, providing guidance and ensuring the overall success and quality of project deliverables. This position reports to the Project Management Consultant (PMC) and the Client, working closely with a Construction Supervision Consultant (CSC) team of over 80 site professionals to uphold high standards of quality, sustainability, and design integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of mechanical systems, from conceptual studies to construction documents, ensuring projects adhere to schedule and budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including suppliers and other engineering disciplines, to achieve project success.
- Identify and resolve technical issues to ensure projects meet performance objectives.
- Act as the technical expert in Mechanical Engineering and serve as the final technical approval authority for the discipline.
- Lead the development, installation, and testing of complex mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and LEED sustainability criteria.
- Ensure precise adherence to design specifications, balancing cultural authenticity with modern design standards.
- Develop and oversee budgets, schedules, and resource plans to optimize efficiency and minimize project risks.
- Collaborate with financial teams to monitor cost control measures and ensure transparency in budget reporting.
- Guarantee adherence to safety protocols, building codes, and quality standards throughout the construction process.
- Implement quality control inspections and address discrepancies with corrective actions.
- Foster effective communication with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders, maintaining transparency on project progress and proactively addressing concerns.
- Work closely with PMC and Client representatives to align the project with their vision and objectives.
- Guide and mentor a team of Engineers and Technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Conduct regular reviews and provide constructive feedback to support team development and alignment with project goals.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 15-18 years of experience in managing large-scale projects.
- At least 10 years of experience on projects of similar scope.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience within the GCC region.
- Proven track record in leading projects with high functional standards, particularly in culturally significant or high-profile developments.
- Previous experience with a Construction Supervision Consultant is considered an advantage.
