Manager Testing & Commissioning PV Inverter Specialist

About the Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Manager - Testing & Commissioning - PV Inverter Specialist to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position is responsible for providing technical leadership in the commissioning of inverter systems within large-scale solar PV power plants. The role ensures safe energization, compliance with grid codes, reliable operation, and seamless integration with Power Plant Controllers (PPC), SCADA systems, and grid infrastructure. The Manager acts as the primary technical lead for inverter systems during the commissioning and early operational phases of projects.

Key Duties

• Review inverter system drawings, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), protection philosophy, control architecture, and communication diagrams.
• Provide input to the Engineering team based on inverter experience to address considerations during the engineering stage, including component selection, product performance challenges, inverter limitations based on site experience, and power quality aspects.
• Validate compliance with local country grid codes (*, KSA, DEWA, EWEC, CEA), OEM technical limits, and project-specific control philosophy.
• Support Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) reviews of inverter controls.
• Prepare inverter commissioning method statements, test procedures, and risk assessments.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead inverter pre-energization checks, covering DC, AC, control, and auxiliary systems.
• Supervise the stepwise energization of inverters.
• Execute the first synchronization and power ramp-up procedures.
• Coordinate inverter commissioning activities with the PPC engineer, SCADA team, protection and relay engineers, and substation/grid utility teams.
• Ensure inverter configuration aligns with PPC commands.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should possess 12-15 years of relevant experience in testing and commissioning, specifically with PV inverter systems. This role requires a strong technical understanding of solar PV power plant operations and grid integration.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, focusing on large-scale solar PV power plant projects. The role involves working collaboratively with various engineering and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery.
