The Opportunity: Mechanical Engineer (Saudi National)
Our Mobility & Railway Business Unit is expanding significantly with new metro projects in Riyadh. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer who is a Saudi National to join our project teams. This full-time role involves providing essential engineering and technical support for all mechanical works performed on site, contributing directly to the successful delivery of our mobility solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor mechanical construction activities in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, project specifications, and safety requirements.
- Review contractor mechanical shop drawings, coordinating with structural, architectural, and electrical disciplines to ensure proper integration and compliance.
- Conduct regular site inspections and evaluate subcontractor performance to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements.
- Support and guide site inspectors on mechanical engineering matters and assist in resolving technical issues.
- Work closely with site inspectors to maintain complete and accurate Inspection and Test Records (ITRs).
- Review site preparation activities and temporary works to verify compliance with contract documents and project standards.
- Supervise mechanical installations and monitor contractor construction schedules related to MEP works.
- Identify, report, and assist in resolving technical issues related to HVAC, smoke management systems, plumbing, firefighting systems, escalators, elevators, and other mechanical services.
- Maintain and track mechanical defects, snags, and punch-list items, ensuring timely corrective action by contractors.
- Review and provide comments on testing and commissioning results for mechanical systems.
- Attend project meetings, site progress meetings, and technical coordination meetings with clients and project stakeholders.
- Monitor compliance with site safety, health, environmental, and security requirements.
- Assist in planning and sequencing construction activities in accordance with the Project Quality Plan.
- Monitor work progress and support verification for progress payments and schedule reporting.
- Review Field Change Requests (FCRs) and provide technical input regarding mechanical-related variations and claims.
- Implement corrective actions to address delays and support timely completion of project objectives.
- Prepare daily reports, inspection reports, estimates, and other project documentation as required.
- Participate in final inspections, snagging activities, and project closeout processes.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
- Must be a Saudi National.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and monitoring mechanical construction activities on large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably within the public transport or railway sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, smoke management, plumbing, firefighting, escalators, and elevators systems.
Work Environment and Type
This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The role involves working closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders on site, ensuring the successful delivery of complex metro projects. The work environment is dynamic and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and technical coordination.
