Job Description

About the Role

Panda Retail Company, a member of the Savola Group, announces its need to fill the position of Quality Inspector to join the Regional Quality team in Riyadh. The incumbent holds a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to the high standards of fresh produce and food items received by Panda's extensive chain of stores. This full-time position focuses on the meticulous inspection of all incoming shipments to ensure they meet Panda's specifications, as well as local (SASO/SFDA) and international food quality and safety standards, and to prevent sub-standard products from entering the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive quality checks on all incoming shipments before acceptance.
  • Ensure all received products meet Panda's specifications, where available, and reject any sub-standard items.
  • Verify compliance with local (SASO/SFDA) and international quality and food safety standards.
  • Schedule preparation for receiving daily fresh produce and food item shipments.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for product receiving at the Distribution Center (DC).
  • Implement the defined inspection plan for sampling and product examination in collaboration with the Team Leader.
  • Receive and inspect the temperature of supplier vehicles and products before unloading and before dispatching shipments to stores.
  • Provide informed recommendations to the Team Leader and Assistant Quality Manager regarding the acceptance or rejection of shipments based on specified fresh produce and meat product specifications.
  • Accurately record all non-conformities for received or rejected items, including photographic evidence, and report them to the Team Leader.
  • Accurately complete all required receiving log documentation and checklists upon completion of inspection.
  • Ensure proper product storage practices are applied according to product categories and appropriate storage conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with Panda's established receiving processes.
  • Check the sugar content (Brix) and firmness of all relevant fruits based on specified criteria.
  • Monitor the pest control system within the distribution center to prevent any insect infestation.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Familiarity with Quality Assurance (QA) regulations as defined by the central QA team.
  • Previous experience in a relevant field, preferably in fresh produce or food and grocery.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate self-motivation.
  • Strong leadership skills and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to reject shipments and provide clear technical justification for these decisions.
  • Diploma required, with a preference for a university level.
  • Experience ranging from 5-10 years.

Core Competencies

  • Proficiency in Quality Assurance regulations.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an excellent added advantage.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and decision-making ability.
  • Sufficient cognitive abilities, including computer and email usage, report preparation, digital camera operation, and industrial thermometer usage.

Work Environment and Location

This is a full-time position located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. You will be working within the Regional Quality team at Panda Retail Company, part of the Savola Group.
