We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position reports to the QA/QC Manager. The successful candidate will ensure production lines consistently deliver top-notch products meeting efficiency and quality standards. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of customer requirements, effective coordination between management and production teams, and excellent communication, observational, and analytical skills, along with demonstrated knowledge of regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the QC Manager in developing quality-process links with customers, aligning with the Quality Management System (including TS16949, ISO14001 / ISO 9001 / OHAS 18001), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Controls Plans, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), and Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) processes.
- Oversee continued compliance and embedding of quality processes across the business.
- Maintain relationships with customers and suppliers to maximize profit potential and ensure efficiency.
- Manage the audit program, supplier development, and improvement initiatives.
- Ensure project deliveries meet quality standards.
- Work proactively with all levels of staff to maintain a program of continual improvement within their areas of responsibility.
- Lead a 'correct at source' and problem-solving methodology (Lean).
- Work to achieve quality targets for customers and business goals.
- Ensure all in-house systems and procedures are updated, revised, and modified to meet the needs of external certification bodies.
- Respond to customer complaints by implementing containment actions, full analysis, error-proofing (poka-yokes), and short-term and long-term countermeasures.
- Champion a program for the implementation and sustainment of a continuous improvement culture.
- Update quality documentation and communicate lessons learned from quality concerns.
- Ensure all necessary systems and procedures are in place to satisfy customer requirements and audits.
- Introduce new systems and procedures where appropriate.
- Train others in all aspects of the quality system and application of procedures.
- Undertake internal and process audits of the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Manage Quality Engineers and Technicians in the sign-off of parts and the resolution of internal/external quality concerns.
- Lead regular inspection meetings with representatives from appropriate departments to establish action plans for improving quality.
- In conjunction with the Supplier Quality Assurance function, reduce the impact of non-conforming supplier materials on the production area's quality.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
- Stay current on changes affecting the supply and demand of needed products and materials, advising others of any impact.
- Identify improvement opportunities within the organization.
- Identify and deploy technical skill sets, resource levels, and systems to deliver projects, including engaging external resources as required.
- Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility.
- Report on achievement of targets and identify any required actions.
- Ensure the function operates in accordance with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
- Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.
People and Relationship Management
Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team, ensuring each member understands the expected standards and behaviors. Monitor task completion, ensure good performance, and record on appropriate systems. Work as part of the Management team to share ideas and improve operations, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and process/procedure improvements to optimize results and enhance delivery quality, in line with company and customer requirements. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance. Work collaboratively, negotiate, and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the strategy.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering degree.
- Proven 8-10 years of experience as a quality engineer.
- A results-driven approach and a keen eye for detail.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legal standards and quality control procedures.
- Good technical and IT skills; working knowledge of SAP or Netsuite will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods.
- Certification in quality control will be a strong advantage.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Knowledge of various processes from Fabrication, Product Assembly, Plating, etc.
- Testing skills based on IEC standards; knowledge of SASO and other international standards.
- Knowledge/Understanding of any ERP (SAP and NetSuite preferred) and how to integrate with other applications.
- Business acumen, strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge/Experience in customer communications, vendor development, and inspection.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
- Strong command and knowledge of Risk management, SQA, MIS, RoHS compliance, KPIs.
- Knowledge of Laboratory operations.
- Command of the Arabic language will be an advantage.
