Role Context

As a Backend Developer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of robust backend APIs. This position involves working alongside a high-caliber engineering group to test and shape the next generation of developer tools, integrating with cutting-edge AI research.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize REST and GraphQL endpoints to ensure scalable API performance.
• Implement and enforce data validation, error handling, and security best practices across all backend services.
• Plan and execute database migrations, optimizations, and schema changes as required to support evolving system needs.

AI Model Engagement and Feedback

• Actively test new AI-powered models within Cursor, providing actionable feedback through incident reports, bug traces, and screenshots.
• Participate in intensive 4-day testing bursts to evaluate the impact of AI models on real coding workflows.
• Engage with the research team in a dedicated Slack channel to discuss findings and propose improvements.
• Submit detailed post-burst surveys, offering insights on model performance and overall developer experience.

Experience Requirements

Candidates for this role should possess 5 to 10 years of experience as a Backend Developer, with a focus on developing robust and scalable systems. A proven track record in API design and database management is essential.
