About the Role

Qatar Airways is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Cargo Operations Agent to join its team in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is part of the Cargo & Airport Operations team, focusing on delivering efficient cargo operations and customer service for both import and export shipments. The role is integral to ensuring the station meets its cargo targets while adhering to all safety and security regulations.

The Senior Cargo Operations Agent will be responsible for enhancing operational performance and customer satisfaction by identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions. This role serves as a key point of contact for customers and Ground Handling Agents (GHAs), ensuring a seamless and efficient cargo handling process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive cargo operations and customer service functions for import and export cargo, interacting with customers and Ground Handling Agents (GHAs).
  • Ensure operational and customer service support is provided to enable the station to meet its cargo revenue targets.
  • Maintain full compliance with all Safety and Security Regulations and procedures as per Host State and Company Requirements.
  • Identify needs and implement improvements to enhance cargo service and operational performance for the station.
  • Support the immediate supervisor in developing operational plans and delivering quality customer service to surpass revenue targets.
  • Liaise effectively with Local Ground Handling Agents and the Head Office Cargo Department to ensure and enhance high-quality service for both import and export operations.
  • Oversee GHA routines to ensure the smooth running of all operational activities.
  • Provide support to import customers for the clearance of their cargo.
  • Liaise with HQ DOH and/or origin stations to secure necessary support for operations.
  • Engage in flight planning to maximize flight capacity utilization, control, and operation of export and import cargo.
  • Maintain close coordination between QR Space Control and customers, ensuring timely transfer and delivery of shipments, correct priority allocation, and maximum utilization of aircraft space.
  • Coordinate with customers and Cargo Claims representatives at Head Office, handling discrepancies at stations and managing administrative issues.
  • Disseminate cargo-related information to customers regarding customs, governmental, and health authority rules, and to Head Office to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.
  • Ensure official notifications are sent regarding Cargo Arrival Information to freight forwarders, agents, and direct customers to prevent extended cargo custody and ensure warehouse space availability.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A relevant vocational, tertiary, or trade qualification is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in cargo operations is essential.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Cargo Operations, Acceptance, Office Administration, Warehouse Procedures, Ramp Procedures, and both export and import cargo processes.
  • Command of the English language is mandatory.
