About the Role

Qiddiya is seeking a highly experienced Senior Director - Development (Sports Competition & Events Venues) to oversee the planning and execution of sports and events facilities within the Qiddiya entertainment and lifestyle destination. This role is integral to establishing Qiddiya as a key location for major sports competitions and events, attracting a broad audience.

Role Context and Objectives

The Senior Director will be responsible for the comprehensive development of sports venues and event infrastructure. The objective is to ensure all facilities meet international standards and provide excellent experiences for athletes, organizers, and spectators. This position requires close collaboration with various stakeholders to advance strategic initiatives aligned with Qiddiya’s overall vision.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategy for the creation of sports competition and events venues.
• Lead the planning, design, development, and execution of sports facilities and event spaces.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to high quality standards.
• Conduct market analysis and feasibility studies to inform venue design and event hosting capabilities.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with sports governing bodies, event organizers, government entities, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, safety standards, and sustainability practices.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams, promoting a collaborative environment focused on innovation and quality.
• Provide regular progress reports and presentations to executive leadership, detailing progress, risks, and opportunities.
• Champion initiatives aimed at enhancing spectator engagement and athlete experience within the venues.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sports Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 20 years of experience in sports venue development, large-scale event facilities, or a closely related sector.
• Strong understanding of international standards for sports competition venues and event management.
• Demonstrated success in managing complex development projects from initiation to completion.
• Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities, with experience leading diverse teams.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to effectively manage budgets, timelines, and project risks.
• Familiarity with sustainability practices and regulations pertinent to sports and event venues.
• A genuine interest in sports and events, coupled with a dedication to creating high-quality venue experiences.
