Senior Engineer Application Engineering

About the Role

Elm Company is seeking a Senior Engineer- Monitoring Operations Center to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to ensuring the continuous health, availability, and performance of IT production infrastructure, applications, and digital services. The Senior Engineer acts as the primary operational point for identifying service degradation, conducting initial investigations, and managing incidents through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor production infrastructure, applications, networks, URLs, and critical digital services.
• Monitor dashboards, events, alerts, and service-health indicators to identify service degradation, availability issues, and abnormal conditions.
• Validate alerts, distinguishing actionable events from false positives, and monitor CPU, memory, disk, network connectivity, service status, application performance, and logs.
• Perform first-level analysis of monitoring alerts, create or validate incidents, and assign/escalate them to appropriate L2/L3 support teams.
• Track incidents until service restoration and closure, ensuring adherence to defined SLAs and escalation procedures.
• Conduct basic technical investigation before escalating incidents, including reviewing monitoring metrics, logs, event details, and infrastructure resource utilization.
• Collect relevant evidence such as timestamps, affected components, error messages, graphs, and logs for resolver teams.
• Prioritize alerts based on severity and business impact, following defined notification and escalation matrices.
• Maintain clear incident notes and operational records, providing accurate handover of open incidents and critical observations between shifts.
• Support the preparation of daily and shift operational reports, identify recurring alarms and monitoring gaps, and suggest improvements to dashboards and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Willingness to work within a shift-based operations environment.
• Ability to perform initial troubleshooting and incident management.
• Understanding of infrastructure and application monitoring principles.
