About the Role

Egis is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position focuses on overseeing material selection, testing, and quality assurance for metro infrastructure projects. The role requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional with over 10 years of experience to ensure materials meet stringent specifications and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and select appropriate materials for metro infrastructure projects, considering performance requirements, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
  • Conduct comprehensive material testing and analysis using laboratory equipment and industry-standard methodologies to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Develop and implement material specifications, testing protocols, and quality control procedures aligned with international standards and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with design, construction, and procurement teams to resolve material-related challenges and optimize material performance.
  • Analyze material failure modes and conduct root cause investigations to implement corrective actions and prevent future issues.
  • Manage relationships with material suppliers and vendors, ensuring consistent quality and timely delivery.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and recommendations for project stakeholders and management.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support team development initiatives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material processes and project outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in materials engineering, with demonstrated expertise in material selection, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Strong knowledge of material properties, behavior, and performance characteristics across various construction and infrastructure applications.
  • Proficiency with materials testing equipment and laboratory procedures, including mechanical testing and non-destructive testing methods.
  • Experience with CAD software and materials modeling tools for design and analysis.
  • Solid understanding of international material standards, codes, and specifications (*, ASTM, ISO, or equivalent).
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results on schedule.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation, report writing, and data analysis.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience on metro, rail, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with material failure analysis and forensic investigation.
  • Leadership experience managing technical teams or junior staff.
  • Familiarity with project management software and tools.
