Test Manager

About the Role

Cognizant is seeking a Test Manager to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role focuses on planning, coordinating, and executing end-to-end testing for complex enterprise applications, with a specialization in WebServices and API testing. The Test Manager will ensure high-quality releases that support reliable billing and revenue processes within a collaborative office-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive comprehensive test strategy and planning for WebServices and API testing initiatives, ensuring robust coverage across functional, integration, and regression scenarios for enterprise applications.
• Coordinate end-to-end test execution cycles for Rest API and backend services, aligning activities with sprint goals, release milestones, and project timelines.
• Design detailed test cases and reusable test suites for API testing using Postman and SoapUI, focusing on request-response validation, payload structures, and error handling.
• Execute manual and automated test scenarios for Rest API endpoints, monitoring performance indicators to identify bottlenecks and defects.
• Validate data integrity and business rules using complex SQL queries for backend database verification.
• Collaborate with development, architecture, and business analysis teams to clarify service contracts, interface specifications, and acceptance criteria for WebServices.
• Review technical specifications and API documentation to derive test conditions addressing edge cases, security, and data validation rules.
• Manage defect lifecycle activities from logging to closure, ensuring accurate root cause information, prioritization, and timely resolution.
• Monitor and report key quality metrics such as defect density, test coverage, and execution progress to provide transparent status updates.
• Implement reusable frameworks and standards for WebServices and API testing to promote consistency across projects.
• Mentor and guide junior test engineers in best practices for API testing, SQL-based validation, and tool usage.
• Coordinate with environment and configuration teams to ensure stable test environments, controlled test data sets, and proper version management.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing defect trends, process gaps, and tooling limitations.
• Support domain-focused validation for Billing and Revenue Management scenarios, verifying rating, invoicing, and revenue recognition flows.

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated proficiency in WebServices Testing and API testing, including hands-on experience validating Rest API endpoints, response codes, and payload structures.
• Strong SQL skills for complex joins, aggregations, and validations across multiple database tables.
• Proficiency in using Postman for designing collections, parameterized requests, and environment configurations.
• Experience with SoapUI for validating Soap-based and Rest-based web services, including designing test suites, assertions, and data-driven tests.
• Working knowledge of Billing and Revenue Management processes for effective validation of charging, rating, billing cycles, and revenue accounting flows.
• 14 to 16 years of experience managing test activities in complex enterprise environments, ensuring adherence to quality standards and client commitments.
• Strong communication and documentation abilities to produce clear test plans, execution reports, and defect summaries.
• Understanding of secure coding expectations and service level objectives for designing resilient and reliable services.
• Structured problem-solving techniques to investigate environment issues, intermittent service failures, and data discrepancies.
• Ability to engage with product owners and business partners to refine acceptance criteria and user expectations.

Required Certification

• ISTQB Advanced Test Manager or an equivalent testing certification focused on test management and API testing.

Work Environment

This role operates in a work-from-office model in a day shift setting in Riyadh, requiring close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
