Testing & Commissioning Engineer FACTS

About the Role

NES Global Talent is seeking a Testing & Commissioning Engineer – FACTS to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires a site engineer with strong expertise in the maintenance of Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), primarily Static Var Compensator (SVC), Fixed Series Capacitor (FSC), and STATCOM. The role is focused on ensuring the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of FACTS installations through various maintenance activities and fault analysis.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive maintenance of FACTS systems. This includes performing and supervising maintenance tasks, troubleshooting system components, monitoring system health, and managing critical spare parts. The role emphasizes adherence to OEM maintenance manuals and maintaining accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of FACTS systems in accordance with OEM maintenance manuals.
• Maintain and troubleshoot various components including thyristor valves, IGBTs, firing circuits, fiber optics, control and protection panels, cooling systems, reactors, capacitors, and harmonic filters.
• Monitor system health, degraded modes, alarms, and event logs to ensure high availability and rapid restoration of services.
• Execute periodic functional checks of control, protection, interlocks, and redundancy systems.
• Manage critical FACTS spare parts, including testing and validation of cards and modules prior to acceptance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, fault reports, and technical documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated expertise in the maintenance of FACTS systems, specifically SVC, FSC, and STATCOM.
