About the Role

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Specialist Vehicle Technician to join their team in Taif, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is open exclusively to Saudi Nationals and requires a minimum of three years of practical experience with specialist vehicles. The role focuses on ensuring the operational readiness and maintenance of various vehicle systems.

Core Responsibilities

The Specialist Vehicle Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling complex vehicle systems. Key duties include:

  • Determining vehicle serviceability by analyzing malfunctions through visual, auditory, operational, and test equipment examinations.
  • Inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and analyzing engine mechanical, electrical, fuel-air, lubricating, cooling, air conditioning, exhaust, power train, brake, steering, and suspension systems.
  • Removing, replacing, repairing, adjusting, and overhauling components such as pistons, crankshafts, batteries, solenoids, pumps, injectors, clutch assemblies, transmissions, axles, and brake systems.
  • Performing repairs by replacing worn or damaged parts, which may involve grinding, re-bushing, reaming, re-facing, honing, aligning, measuring, and installation.
  • Reassembling, replacing, adjusting, and testing repaired units to ensure correct operation.

Preventative Maintenance and Safety Protocols

This role also involves comprehensive preventative maintenance and adherence to safety standards:

  • Establishing, maintaining, and utilizing technical, administrative, and supply publications, vehicle maintenance data, and man-hour accounting forms.
  • Performing specialized maintenance for corrosion control, winterization, storage, and shipment.
  • Servicing and repairing vehicle safety accessories, including seat belts, mirrors, windshield wipers, lights, indicators, and warning devices.
  • Practicing workshop safety and security procedures within the vehicle maintenance organization.
  • Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing anti-pollution, emission control, and vehicle air conditioning systems.

Supervisory Functions

When acting in a supervisory capacity, the technician will also be responsible for:

  • Assigning specific tasks to maintenance personnel.
  • Observing work performed to ensure adherence to instructions and prescribed procedures.
  • Instructing personnel in repair and servicing duties.
  • Making decisions regarding required maintenance and the serviceability of repaired equipment.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Good level of English Language comprehension, both written and oral.
  • Minimum of 3 years of practical experience working on a full range of Specialist Vehicles, gained in either a military or civilian environment.
  • Demonstrated quality-mindedness, maturity, and a positive, proactive approach in the specialist vehicle field.
  • Possession of a current driving license.
