About the Role

Libera Consultants is recruiting for a Barge Engineer on behalf of a leading drilling contractor in Saudi Arabia. This full-time, senior marine position supports offshore Jack-Up drilling operations in Eastern, Saudi Arabia. The role is central to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the rig, with a particular focus on critical marine aspects.

Role Context and Focus

The successful candidate will join a well-established drilling contractor known for its strong safety culture, modern fleet, and long-term offshore operations. This position requires expertise in managing and overseeing rig moves, jacking operations, stability, ballast, and load distribution. The Barge Engineer will advise the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) on marine and operational matters impacting rig safety and drilling activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support Jack-Up rig moves, including positioning, preloading, and jacking operations.
• Oversee the safe jacking up and lowering procedures of the rig.
• Monitor and maintain rig stability, ballast, load distribution, and weight control.
• Advise the OIM on marine, stability, and operational issues that could affect rig safety or drilling operations.
• Monitor weather and environmental conditions during marine and rig-move activities.
• Ensure marine equipment and systems remain operationally ready and compliant with standards.
• Maintain required stability, ballast, loading, and marine operational records.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Flag State, Classification Society, statutory, and company safety requirements.
• Support emergency preparedness, drills, and offshore marine safety activities.
• Lead and support marine personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 5 years' relevant offshore marine experience, with significant experience as a Barge Engineer on Jack-Up drilling rigs.
• Proven experience participating in and/or managing multiple Jack-Up rig moves.
• Hands-on experience with jacking, preloading, ballast, and stability operations.
• Strong understanding of Jack-Up rig stability, weight distribution, and marine operations.
• Experience working across different Jack-Up rig designs/types is highly desirable.
• Strong offshore safety awareness and knowledge of relevant marine regulations.
• Proven leadership and communication skills.

Essential Certifications

• Valid and relevant Certificate of Competency (COC).
• Relevant offshore/STCW certifications as required.
• All certifications must be valid and internationally recognised.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based offshore within the Eastern region of Saudi Arabia. The role operates within a dynamic offshore drilling environment, requiring adherence to stringent safety protocols and operational standards.
