About the Peer Reviewer Role

Role Overview and Responsibilities

As a Peer Reviewer, your primary responsibility will be to critically evaluate submitted manuscripts to ensure their scientific rigor, originality, and adherence to academic standards. This involves a thorough assessment of the research presented and providing constructive feedback to authors and editors. The role is crucial in maintaining the quality of published research.

  • Assess Novelty: Evaluate the originality of the manuscript and its contribution to the field.
  • Evaluate Study Design and Methodology: Review the appropriateness, comprehensiveness, and clarity of the research methods to ensure reproducibility.
  • Literature Review: Ensure the manuscript adequately incorporates and cites relevant, up-to-date research.
  • Analyse Results and Conclusions: Determine if results are presented clearly and if conclusions are supported by the data and are significant to the field.
  • Provide Constructive Feedback: Offer suggestions for improvement and identify any flaws, omissions, or ethical concerns.
  • Recommend Publication Status: Provide an informed recommendation to the journal editor regarding manuscript acceptance, revision, or rejection.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following academic and professional criteria:

  • Possess a Doctorate PhD or equivalent advanced degree in the relevant subject area.
  • Have published at least 5 papers in SCI / SSCI journals within the past three years.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of research methodologies and ethical principles within the relevant discipline.
  • Possess 5-10 years of experience in a relevant academic or research capacity.
  • Prior experience as a peer reviewer for academic journals is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with online manuscript submission and review systems is beneficial.
