The Role of Sr. Principal Legal Counsel, GCC (excl. UAE)

Medtronic is seeking a Sr. Principal Legal Counsel, GCC (excl. UAE) to provide strategic legal guidance and daily support to its operations. This full-time position is based in KSA and reports directly to the Senior Legal Director for the TUMECA region. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams and primarily supports the Saudi Arabia and overall GCC business, offering practical, risk-based legal guidance on commercial operations, strategic initiatives, and complex projects. The successful candidate will partner with business leaders to support growth, manage legal risk, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide commercially oriented operational legal support and strategic guidance to management, business units, and functions within the region.
• Advise on matters including commercial law, competition, employment, public procurement, regulatory compliance, data protection, product liability, and disputes with a high degree of independence.
• Counsel business clients on legal issues related to business operations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements, such as sales, distribution, service, supply, confidentiality, and collaboration agreements.
• Offer operational support for daily local activities, including assistance to HR, Pricing, and Regulatory functions.
• Oversee and support the consistent implementation of strategic legal projects at the local level.
• Support the EurAsia Legal team on new processes and projects to ensure local implementation and effective incorporation of legal requirements into local commercial and business activities.
• Ensure compliance with local legislation.
• Prepare and conduct meetings and training sessions for employees on Medtronic policies and procedures.
• Participate in and share best practices with the EurAsia Legal team.
• Effectively manage relationships with outside counsel to maximize quality of representation and minimize legal expenses.

Required Experience

• 8-10 years of relevant legal experience.

Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based in KSA, within a dynamic and collaborative work environment. Occasional travel within the broader region may be required to support business needs and foster stakeholder relationships.
