The Role of Contracts Administrator

Air Products is seeking a Contracts Administrator for a contract position in Al Jubail, Eastern Province. This role requires expertise in commercial, legal, and contractual matters, along with leadership and motivational skills. The Contracts Administrator will ensure project delivery aligns with Project, Business Unit, and Company objectives, while upholding the company's reputation and identifying potential risks and opportunities in accordance with established policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements and contracts to mitigate risk and optimize opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing commercial and contract support, ensuring compliance with commercial practices.
  • Support the pre and post-contract awards process.
  • Demonstrate a competent understanding of contracts and their required administration.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, both in numbers and quality, for contract requirements to meet project needs.
  • Utilize professional experience to verify, oversee, negotiate, and/or approve commercial agreements with third parties.
  • Comply with Lines and Limits of Authority.
  • Analyze and report on complex situations and potential opportunities/risks related to variations in cost and schedule.
  • Ensure procedures are followed and suggest improvements where applicable.
  • Maintain good relations and facilitate information exchange between the company, contractors, and internal teams to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Review contract specifications and collaborate with stakeholders (PM/PD) to identify risks or gaps.
  • Engage the legal team when necessary for legal support.
  • Protect business interests by ensuring contractual disputes are resolved promptly and diligently.
  • Interpret commercial obligations for both contracts and clients, and brief relevant parties on the commercial/contractual impact of any failure to meet these obligations.
  • Actively participate in the cross-functional project team, liaising with Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and other functions to identify and resolve potential concerns.
  • Follow and comply with Company and Project procedures and techniques, suggesting beneficial updates or integrations.
  • Implement good practice and strict controls for change orders, variations, and claims, including fee claim assessment and dispute resolution advice.
  • Maintain contract logs/tracking sheets and adhere to reporting protocols.
  • Support the claim and change management process.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Economics, Business, Engineering, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • 5-10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas, Energy, or Industrial Gases sectors.
  • Competent knowledge and understanding of contract law and commercial/contracts management.
  • Analytical skills for developing and utilizing performance measures and cost savings.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong sense of responsibility with a professional attitude and reputation.
  • Proficiency in organizing, analyzing, and coordinating tasks.
  • Knowledge of Saudi market vendors and suppliers.
  • Skill in using the Internet and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
