About the Assistant Director of Food & Beverage Role

Kempinski Hotel is seeking an Assistant Director of Food & Beverage to support its vision of leadership in the hospitality industry, with a focus on enhancing the brand's food and beverage offerings. This full-time position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience and offers the opportunity for growth into a Head of Department role.

Core Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Food & Beverage is responsible for overseeing appointed outlet operations, ensuring adherence to Kempinski's standards for personal appearance, hygiene, and professional conduct. This role involves maintaining a thorough knowledge of all hotel services, products, and food and beverage offerings. Key duties include conducting daily operations briefings with the Executive Chef in the absence of the Food & Beverage Head of Department, attending or leading Food & Beverage meetings, and actively participating in sourcing high-quality products. The position also requires monitoring and improving guest satisfaction through established tools and ensuring effective training programs are implemented within the outlets.

Operational Oversight and Guest Engagement

This role involves overseeing all services, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, lobby, banqueting, room service, and bars, at least once a week. Staying informed about local and global food and beverage trends is essential. The Assistant Director will be actively involved in outlet operations to ensure regular guest contact and will serve as the secondary point of contact for the Corporate Food & Beverage Team. Responsibilities also include responding to changes within the department as directed by hotel management and supporting the implementation of corporate policies and initiatives.

Financial and Marketing Support

The Assistant Director will assist in the preparation and consolidation of the department's yearly budget and monthly income statements. This includes attending monthly performance meetings with Outlet Management. Additionally, the role involves managing the consolidated inventory of Food & Beverage department's OS&E in conjunction with the stewarding department and assisting in handling guest complaints. A key responsibility is preparing a yearly marketing plan for the appointed outlets, in collaboration with the Sales & Marketing Department, which includes competitor analysis.

Qualifications and Professional Development

Candidates are expected to attend and actively contribute to all relevant staff meetings and hotel trainings. A critical requirement is the annual review and updating of all departmental operations manuals. Establishing strong partnerships with suppliers and involving them in activities to strengthen working relationships is also a key aspect of this role.
