About the Role
Wood is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our team in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position focuses on identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities to align with Wood’s strategic growth plans, with a primary emphasis on winning new business and renewing major framework agreements.
Key Responsibilities
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for:
- Identifying, validating, and pursuing high-potential opportunities across sectors including oil & gas, petrochemicals, mining, chemicals, infrastructure, and new energies.
- Building and expanding relationships with strategic clients and government stakeholders, ensuring alignment with Vision 2030 industrial objectives.
- Supporting participation in and renewal of framework agreements, and tracking competitor contract expirations for proactive positioning.
- Leading opportunity identification and positioning phases within Wood’s Growth & Development Framework.
- Leveraging market intelligence and client insights to develop compelling win strategies and value propositions.
- Maintaining an understanding of competitors and building partnerships with EPCs and local JVs.
- Collaborating with proposal and commercial teams to support contract negotiations and client engagement during tendering processes.
- Leading strategic account management initiatives to strengthen client relationships and ensure long-term satisfaction.
- Monitoring and driving financial performance across key accounts to meet revenue, margin, and profitability targets.
- Maintaining accurate opportunity records in Wood’s Customer Relationship Management system and supporting leadership in forecasting and business planning.
- Promoting a strong compliance culture in line with Wood’s Business Ethics and Risk Management standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in business development for engineering, EPC, or consulting projects, preferably within Saudi Arabia or the GCC.
- Deep understanding of project lifecycles (concept, FEED, EPCm, operations).
- Proven success in winning framework agreements and mega capital projects.
- High commercial and technical acumen, with capabilities in strategic negotiation and client engagement.
- Strong experience in early market positioning and pipeline forecasting.
- Familiarity with government processes related to contract approvals and award mechanisms.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM tools.
- International experience and cross-cultural communication skills are advantageous.
