About the Role

Intech Automation & Intelligence, a company with nearly 30 years of experience in industrial automation and digitalization technology, is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Design Supervisor. This role is based in Al Khobar, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia, and offers an opportunity to contribute to transformative technologies within the Industry era. The position involves overseeing the development of comprehensive instrumentation design packages for large-scale EPC projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the instrumentation design team in preparing all instrumentation deliverables, including datasheets, loop drawings, hook-up drawings, instrument indexes, and cable schedules.
  • Review and approve instrumentation design documents, drawings, and specifications for technical accuracy and compliance with project standards.
  • Oversee the development and review of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and instrument location plans.
  • Review vendor documentation for instruments, control valves, analyzers, and associated equipment, coordinating technical clarifications and deviations.
  • Coordinate with process, piping, electrical, and control systems disciplines to ensure seamless instrumentation design integration.
  • Ensure all design outputs comply with international standards such as ISA and IEC, client standards including Saudi Aramco and ADNOC, and specific project specifications.
  • Mentor and develop instrumentation engineers and designers by reviewing their work and providing technical guidance.
  • Track and report on the progress of instrumentation design deliverables against project schedule requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering.
  • 13 to 15 years of instrumentation engineering experience on EPC projects within the oil, gas, or petrochemical sectors.
  • Proven supervisory experience leading instrumentation design teams.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation design standards, including ISA, IEC 61511, and API standards.
  • Demonstrable experience with design on projects involving Schneider Foxboro DCS and Triconex ESD Systems.
  • Proficiency in instrumentation design tools such as INTOOLS/AVEVA or Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI), or equivalent.
  • Significant experience in producing and reviewing full instrumentation design packages for large-scale projects.
  • Demonstrable record of managing instrumentation design teams and delivering quality outputs on schedule for major Saudi Aramco or ADNOC projects.

Required Skills

  • Comprehensive expertise in the design and documentation of instrumentation systems, including datasheets, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, and instrument schedules.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation design interfaces with Schneider Foxboro DCS and Triconex ESD Systems.
  • Proficiency in AVEVA/Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) or INTOOLS for design data management and deliverable production.
  • Working knowledge of IEC 61511 functional safety concepts as applied to Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
  • Expertise in sizing and specifying control valves, flowmeters, pressure/temperature transmitters, analyzers, and relief valves.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-discipline teams of engineers and designers, setting quality standards and driving productivity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective coordination with engineers, project managers, vendors, and clients.
  • High level of accuracy in reviewing and approving complex instrumentation design deliverables.
  • Ability to identify design conflicts and technical issues early and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Skilled in prioritizing design deliverables to meet project schedule milestones across multiple simultaneous work fronts.
