About the Role

Duruper is seeking a qualified Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to join our team in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is essential for ensuring the safe and compliant use of radiation sources within our operations, particularly concerning Saudi Aramco projects. The role requires a strong background in radiation safety, health physics, and industrial radiography, with demonstrated experience in managing radiation protection programs.

This position involves strict adherence to national and international regulatory standards, including those set by the Saudi Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission (NRRC), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and Saudi Aramco (SAES). The RSO will play a key role in maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel involved in radiation-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage radiation safety and protection programs to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant regulations and standards from the NRRC, IAEA, and Saudi Aramco (SAES) guidelines.
  • Conduct radiation safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Monitor radiation exposure levels for personnel and the environment, implementing measures for safe working practices.
  • Oversee the safe handling, storage, and transportation of all radiation sources, including gamma and X-ray equipment.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate radiation detection and monitoring equipment.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for radiation workers on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain all necessary regulatory licenses, permits, and associated documentation.
  • Provide support and execute radiation safety requirements for Saudi Aramco projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Saudi Aramco's safety systems and contractor procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in radiation safety or industrial radiography.
  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics, or a closely related scientific field.
  • Certified Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
  • Valid NRRC (Saudi Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission) license.
  • Valid QSA Global retrieval & maintenance certification.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with industrial radiography, including gamma and X-ray sources.
  • Experience utilizing and managing radiation detection and monitoring equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of NRRC regulations, IAEA standards, and SAES guidelines.
  • Proven experience in radiation source handling, conducting safety audits, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
