About the Commis I Role

Delta Hotels and Resorts is seeking a Commis I to join their team in Jeddah. This is a full-time position for an individual with 0-1 years of experience. The Commis I will play a key role in food preparation and kitchen operations, contributing to the overall quality of the culinary offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare special meals or substitute items as needed.
  • Regulate the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
  • Pull food from freezer storage to thaw properly in the refrigerator.
  • Ensure proper portioning, arrangement, and garnishing of food items.
  • Maintain food logs and monitor the quality and quantity of prepared food.
  • Communicate any assistance needed during busy periods.
  • Inform the Chef of excess food items for potential use in daily specials.
  • Communicate menu specials and out-of-stock items to Food & Beverage service staff.
  • Prepare and cook food according to established recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists.
  • Prepare cold food items.

Team Support and Development

This role involves assisting management with various employee-related functions, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching. The Commis I is expected to serve as a role model for other employees.

Adherence to Policies and Standards

  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
  • Complete required safety training and certifications.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
  • Anticipate and address guests’ service needs.
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, supporting team goals.
  • Listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.

Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods. Employees will need to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. The ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance is necessary. Other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors may also be assigned.

Qualifications

This position is suitable for individuals with 0-1 years of experience in a culinary or kitchen environment. A foundational understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations is beneficial.
