About the Role

KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) is seeking an Engineering Manager for a full-time position based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This role is central to providing comprehensive engineering services, including technical support, conducting studies, and developing effective engineering solutions. The Engineering Manager will oversee activities related to project engineering and development service programs, while also implementing robust engineering project management for major capital projects and facility upgrades.

Core Engineering Responsibilities

• Manage the engineering process from conceptual scope development to accurate cost estimates and documented energy savings calculations.
• Conduct design reviews and provide technical comments across all relevant disciplines for both upcoming and ongoing projects.
• Offer technical support to business development, estimating, and onsite engineering teams.
• Develop planning and prioritization processes to ensure optimal alignment of multi-disciplinary resources for project delivery.
• Report regularly on engineering activities to the Senior Management team, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of Key Performance Indicators.

Project Management and Oversight

• Manage the development and implementation of measurement and verification plans for assigned projects, collaborating with KAUST Stakeholders to track obligations.
• Coordinate and manage third-party design consultants for all outsourced engineering and design-related work.
• Identify and provide optimized solutions to achieve the lowest possible cost for KAUST.
• Process, track, and maintain accurate records of project-related documentation in coordination with internal and outsourced teams.
• Coordinate with design consultants, project teams, and KAUST stakeholders to define deliverables for engineering works.

Standards and Process Enhancement

• Establish quality and reliability standards by studying industry benchmarks, customer requirements, and research/design and development needs.
• Define metrics required to assess performance against established standards.
• Develop and enhance KAUST Engineering standards to deliver safe, value-driven, and sustainable projects.
• Apply problem-solving skills to resolve technical issues and initiate solution techniques.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of PDE&C’s procedures and adhere to KAUST’s established procedures.

Team Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

• Manage, direct, and coordinate the activities of the engineering team to ensure projects progress on schedule.
• Remove technical barriers and obstacles to facilitate continuous improvement activities within the team.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, manage attendance, holidays, and disciplinary issues as appropriate.
• Develop and manage cost estimations for required projects.
• Build trusting relationships with stakeholders and peers through transparency, ownership, and a customer-centric approach.

Required Experience and Work Type

Candidates for this full-time Engineering Manager position are expected to have 2-5 years of relevant experience. The role involves working within a dynamic environment at KAUST, contributing to critical infrastructure and development projects in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
