Assistant Front Office Manager at Courtyard by Marriott

Courtyard by Marriott is seeking an Assistant Manager - Front Office I to join our team in a full-time capacity. This role involves supporting the Front Office Manager in administering daily front office functions and supervising staff across various operational areas.

Role Overview and Objectives

The Assistant Manager - Front Office plays a crucial role in overseeing functions such as Bell/Door Staff, Switchboard, and Guest Services/Front Desk. This position directs and collaborates with managers and employees to ensure efficient check-in and check-out processes, maintain high levels of guest and employee satisfaction, and contribute to the maximized financial performance of the department.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, influence, and encourage front office team members, fostering mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.
  • Supervise and manage employees, overseeing all day-to-day operations and ensuring employee recognition across shifts.
  • Advocate for sound financial and business decision-making, demonstrating honesty and integrity.
  • Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with employees.
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and individual coaching to improve service performance and empower employees.
  • Understand employee positions to perform duties in their absence when required.

Operational Oversight and Guest Experience

  • Manage daily operations to ensure quality, standards, and customer expectations are consistently met.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work efficiently.
  • Handle guest complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Front Office Manager on continuous departmental service improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of corrective action plans based on guest feedback and satisfaction results.
  • Interact regularly with guests to obtain feedback on product quality, service levels, and overall satisfaction.
  • Implement the customer recognition/service program and ensure compliance with all Front Office policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Monitor adherence to credit policies and procedures to reduce bad debts and rebates.
  • Function as the Front Office Manager in their absence, communicating critical information to staff.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED combined with 2 years of experience in guest services, front desk, or a related professional area.
  • Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major, with no prior work experience required.
