About the Role

Courtyard by Marriott is seeking an Assistant Manager, Training to join our team in Mecca, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position supports the identification and resolution of employee and organizational development needs, ensuring the implementation of effective training programs. The role is crucial in enabling the achievement of desired business results through focused training on product knowledge, company philosophy, customer service, and leadership skills.

Training Program Administration

The Assistant Manager, Training will assist in the daily administration and delivery of employee training programs. Key responsibilities include:

• Promoting and informing employees about all available training programs.
• Displaying leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent customer service, and fostering a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
• Helping employees identify specific behaviors that contribute to service excellence.
• Ensuring employees receive ongoing training to understand guest expectations.
• Utilizing effective training methods to ensure employees have a good understanding of guest satisfaction and can demonstrate related skills.
• Meeting regularly with the training cadre to support training efforts.
• Observing service behaviors of employees and providing feedback to individuals and/or managers.

Training Program Development

This role supports the design, planning, and continuous improvement of training initiatives. Responsibilities include:

• Assisting in conducting needs assessments and designing and developing custom and corporate training programs.
• Identifying performance gaps and collaborating with managers to develop and implement appropriate training to improve performance.
• Assisting with making necessary adjustments to training methodology and/or facilitating re-training as appropriate.
• Aligning current training and development programs to effectively impact key business indicators.
• Assisting with establishing guidelines so employees understand expectations and parameters.
• Developing specific training to improve service performance.
• Driving brand values and philosophy in all training and development activities.
• Incorporating guest satisfaction as a component of departmental meetings with a focus on continuous improvement.

Training Program Evaluation

The Assistant Manager, Training will help assess the effectiveness of training programs to ensure a return on investment and continuous improvement. Key tasks include:

• Monitoring enrollment and attendance at training classes.
• Meeting regularly with participants to assess progress and address concerns.
• Partnering with operational leaders to assess if employees demonstrate effective technical and leadership skills.
• Reviewing comment cards, guest satisfaction results, and other data to identify areas of improvement.
• Measuring the transfer of learning from training courses to the operation.
• Ensuring adult learning principles are incorporated into training programs.

Budget Management Support

This role provides support in managing the training department's financial resources and planning. Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the development of the Training budget as required.
• Assisting with managing the budget in alignment with Human Resources and property financial goals.
• Assisting with managing department controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
• Utilizing a P-card, if appropriate, to control and monitor departmental expenditures.
