About the Commercial Director Role

Tamauzy Company for Training & Consulting is seeking an experienced Commercial Director to lead the commercial strategy, business development, contracts, tendering, and strategic partnerships for a client in the construction sector. This full-time, on-site position is based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and reports to the Chief Executive Officer. The role is integral to achieving sustainable revenue growth and strengthening the company's market position.

Key Responsibilities

The Commercial Director will be responsible for developing and executing the company's commercial strategy. This includes overseeing business development, client relationship management, strategic partnerships, tendering processes, commercial pricing, contract negotiations, and commercial governance. The role involves identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, managing a pipeline of current and future projects, and ensuring the successful preparation of competitive bids and commercial proposals.

Further responsibilities include managing contract administration, claims and variation management, monitoring commercial performance, and coordinating commercial activities across projects. The Commercial Director will also develop commercial policies and procedures, prepare business plans and forecasts, and lead a commercial team to achieve strategic objectives. Ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards and best commercial practices is also a key aspect of this role.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required; an MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive commercial experience within the construction industry is necessary, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in business development, commercial strategy, tendering, pricing, contract management, and strategic partnerships is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, commercial negotiations, claims management, and FIDIC principles is required.
  • Demonstrated success in securing major projects and building long-term relationships with government, semi-government, and private sector clients is expected.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience in budgeting, forecasting, and performance management.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary commercial teams.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Arabic proficiency is highly desirable.

Work Location and Type

This is a full-time, on-site position located in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The role requires the ability to work effectively from this location.
