About the Commis Role at Edition

Edition is seeking a dedicated Commis to join our culinary team in Jeddah and Makkah. This full-time position is designed for individuals with 0-1 years of experience in a professional kitchen environment, eager to contribute to maintaining high standards of food preparation and kitchen operations.

Key Culinary Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items strictly according to established recipes, quality standards, presentation guidelines, and the food preparation checklist.
• Execute the preparation of special meals, substitute items, and cold foods as required.
• Regulate the temperature of cooking equipment, including ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters, to ensure optimal cooking conditions.
• Manage food thawing processes by retrieving items from freezer storage and placing them in the refrigerator.
• Ensure proper portioning, arrangement, and garnishing of all food items before service.

Quality Assurance and Communication

• Monitor and maintain the quality and quantity of prepared food items consistently.
• Maintain accurate food logs as per operational procedures.
• Inform the Chef of excess food items that can be utilized in daily specials to minimize waste.
• Communicate menu specials and out-of-stock items clearly to the Food & Beverage service staff.
• Anticipate and address guests’ service needs, speaking with others using clear and professional language.

Team Collaboration and Operational Support

• Communicate effectively with colleagues to request assistance during busy periods.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members, supporting common goals.
• Listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
• Assist management in various aspects including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees, serving as a role model.

Adherence to Company Standards and Safety

• Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures diligently.
• Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager promptly.
• Complete all required safety training and certifications.
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional at all times.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
• Ensure adherence to all quality expectations and standards.
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
• Capability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
