About the Cook Lead Role

Marriott International is seeking a dedicated Cook Lead to join our team in Makkah, with operations extending to Jeddah. This full-time position involves overseeing the preparation of meals, ensuring adherence to culinary standards, and contributing to a high-quality dining experience for our guests. The role requires a proactive approach to kitchen operations and team support.

Key Culinary Duties

  • Prepare special meals and substitute items as required.
  • Regulate cooking equipment temperatures and manage food thawing processes efficiently.
  • Ensure proper portioning, arrangement, and garnishing of all food items.
  • Maintain accurate food logs and continuously monitor the quality and quantity of prepared dishes.
  • Communicate assistance needs during peak periods and inform the Chef and Food & Beverage service staff about menu specials and out-of-stock items.

Operational Support and Team Contribution

  • Prepare and cook food in strict accordance with established recipes, quality standards, presentation guidelines, and food preparation checklists, including cold food preparation.
  • Support management in various human resources functions, such as hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees, serving as a role model.
  • Anticipate and address guests' service needs, communicate professionally, and develop positive working relationships with colleagues.
  • Support team goals and respond appropriately to employee concerns, ensuring adherence to quality expectations and standards.

Safety, Security, and Professional Standards

  • Adhere strictly to all company and safety/security policies and procedures.
  • Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions promptly.
  • Complete all required safety training and certifications.
  • Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance at all times.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: A Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree is preferred.
  • Related Work Experience: A minimum of 3 years of related work experience is required.
  • Supervisory Experience: No prior supervisory experience is necessary for this role.
  • License or Certification: No specific license or certification is required.

Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods. Candidates must be able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. The position also involves moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Other reasonable job duties may be assigned by Supervisors.
