About the EHS Officer Role at Kerry

Kerry, a global leader in taste and nutrition for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, is seeking an experienced EHS Officer to join its team in Jeddah. This full-time permanent position involves ensuring a safe and sustainable working environment by identifying and controlling health, safety, and environmental risks, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Role Responsibilities

The EHS Officer will be responsible for a range of duties focused on maintaining high standards of environmental, health, and safety performance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and controlling occupational hazards and environmental impacts, liaising with employees and management.
  • Addressing daily HSE issues, participating in operational meetings, and implementing immediate corrective actions.
  • Supporting and guiding the HSE Committee in their daily and monthly activities and inspections.
  • Developing and implementing HSE programs, policies, and management systems to ensure compliance with relevant authorities.
  • Ensuring all findings and issues related to ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 are rectified and closed effectively.
  • Promoting safe work practices through training programs to enhance safety awareness and knowledge across the organization.
  • Communicating health and safety information throughout the company.
  • Conducting safety induction training for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Evaluating and controlling workplace hazards through risk and environmental impact assessments.
  • Submitting monthly HSE reports, conducting HSE monitoring, managing waste, and tracking carbon footprint (ENVIROS SKM).
  • Ensuring the update and maintenance of all safety equipment, including fire systems, gas detectors, and SCBA.
  • Interpreting standards, advising management on necessary actions, enforcing adherence to regulations (*, OSHA 1994, EQA, FMA), and maintaining Kerry corporate standards.
  • Executing and evaluating the effectiveness of the annual HSE Action Plan.
  • Coordinating HSE Committee meetings and activities as required by OSHA 1994.
  • Driving and coordinating Green Team meetings based on DCF targets and issues.
  • Liaising with relevant departments and government bodies on HSE matters.
  • Coordinating with on-site contractors.
  • Proposing internal HSE purchases.
  • Managing other ad hoc tasks as assigned by superiors or related departments.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of working experience.
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment is preferred, with a background in Food or Pharma being an advantage.
  • A minimum Diploma or higher qualification in Health & Safety or Environmental Sciences is preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of OSHA 1994, EQA 1974, and FMA 1967.
  • Must be a Registered Safety & Health Officer with a valid Green Book.
  • Possession of Scheduled Waste Competent Person certification is considered a value-added asset.
  • Strong project management abilities with a demonstrated capacity to manage projects to successful completion.
