About the Electrical Engineering Internship at Uvera

Uvera is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team in the Makkah Region, specifically in Thuwal. This internship offers practical experience in electronics and IoT product development within a dynamic work environment. The intern will contribute to the design, prototyping, testing, and maintenance of IoT-enabled devices, working alongside experienced engineers in hardware, firmware, and product design.

Role and Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineering Intern will support various stages of product development. Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting in the design, prototyping, and testing of electronics hardware and embedded systems for IoT devices.
• Supporting firmware development and validation for microcontrollers and sensors.
• Participating in PCB design, soldering, and troubleshooting of electronic circuits.
• Conducting testing and data collection to ensure device performance and reliability.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams for hardware, firmware, and software integration.
• Maintaining inventory tracking for electronic components and ensuring availability.
• Supporting preventive maintenance and calibration of production equipment.
• Contributing to technical documentation, assembly instructions, and testing procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates should meet the following qualifications:

• Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of embedded systems, microcontroller programming (ARM/AVR), and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART).
• Hands-on skills in soldering, wiring, and troubleshooting electrical systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ or Python.
• Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Additional experience that would be beneficial includes:

• Familiarity with IoT protocols such as MQTT and HTTPs.
• Experience with PCB design tools (Eagle, Altium, KiCad).
• Familiarity with Linux builds (Yocto Project) or embedded Linux development.
• Exposure to cloud IoT platforms (*, AWS IoT Core).

Internship Details

This is a 6-month internship position. The work is on-site at the KAUST Research & Technology Park in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia. Daily shuttle services are available between Jeddah and KAUST.
